live performance

live project at ateliers claus

This first solo live performance took place after a week-long residency at Ateliers Claus, a space I had long dreamed of inhabiting and where this project was given the time and intimacy it needed to grow. Over the course of the week, I fully occupied the venue, building a scenography from reclaimed materials and assembling small DIY sound installations that functioned as both instruments and landscapes. Using a sequencer alongside microphones placed on these handmade setups, I performed evolving soundscapes live, shaping textures and rhythms in real time through subtle gestures and spatial interactions.

The performance unfolded around three moments of sudden clarity that had marked me deeply: a pile of sugar beets glowing at sunset; rain falling on the bluestone steps of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, accompanied by a small bag of plums; and wind moving through reeds at the edge of a pond, carrying an intense feeling of interconnectedness. Shared with Rupert Clervaux and James Marrs — longtime friends and essential figures in my artistic journey — the evening felt both personal and collective, a first step into a more embodied and spatial live practice.
